The research activities on processing physico-chemistry aim to develop and discover new synthesis routes for carbon and ceramic-matrix composites. Experimental and numerical approaches allow understanding the basic phenomena and mechanisms at work during processing. New materials stem from original processes or from combinations thereof.

These research activities encompass all constituents of the composites (fibers, interphases, matrices), either considered individually (single filament, thin layers, bulk samples) or in association at several length scales (multilayer, mcirocomposite, minicomposite, tow, single ply, …)
